Unai Emery Hints At Starting Youngster Against Manchester City

Unai Emery spoke exclusively to Sky Sports about his blueprint for Arsenal going forward

"Of course they deserved to play, of course", Guardiola stressed.

"We have a lot of ambition to start (well) on Sunday against the last winners of the Premier League", Emery told a news conference.

Guardiola said: "People say we now have to forget what we did last season".

I fancy Arsenal to make a fast start, but for City to eventually overcome them. That's the basic principle, ' he urged.

"Arsenal are going to play this pressing game and could they catch City off guard?"

It's a fresh start for everyone at the club and what better way to continue the new found positivity surrounding Arsenal than with an opening day win against City. 'Forget how much Liverpool have spent, they were already a good team last season as well.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has challenged his players to see squad rotation from his perspective, claiming the task of picking his starting XI "hurts a lot".

"The important thing is to be there and to be ourselves".

Man city is nearly the ideal squad with a mix of experience (Silva, Kompany, Fernandinho) and youngsters such as Gabriel Jesus and lightning-quick Leroy Sane, not to forget the lethal duo of Kevin De Bruyne and Kun Aguero.

Guardiola revealed on Friday that World Cup stars Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling would be available for selection.

However, if Emery can sort out Arsenal's defensive problems then they could be a force to be reckoned with, such is the quality they possess in attacking positions.

"Now we start again".

Guardiola's side might become more technical at the back this season, with Aymeric Laporte and John Stones seemingly his first-choice combination, with the more rugged Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi back-ups.

Guardiola admits it's not part of the job he likes.

"They don't know it".

During the season we will have really bad moments - it is impossible to have the ideal season all the time - but when you win one title you can win another one. We need four on the top level.

Eventually, Stones might be deployed as a holding midfielder with City losing out to Chelsea in the race for Jorginho.

'We can do our job, yes, but maybe Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea can do their job better and win, reflects Guardiola.

Arsenal will host the league defending champions on Sunday 12th and the Spaniard has called on his charges to connect with the supporters by giving a good display.

Pep, on the other hand, will be expected to deliver the coveted UCL title to the blue side of Manchester, having signed Riyadh Mahrez from Leicester.
