Weekend WASHOUT as Storm Debby brings torrential rain

This rain will then become lighter again as the morning progresses.

Hail storms and heavy rainfall are expected in the west of the United Kingdom throughout today and tomorrow, while most of the country can expect at least some rainfall.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration along with a number of other hurricane forecasting agencies and programs are now predicting a below-average Atlantic hurricane season as a result of the development of an El Nino in the Pacific Ocean, cooler sea surface temperatures and an increased amount of Saharan dust spreading over the Atlantic Ocean along with higher levels of wind shear over the Caribbean.

It will bring some lively showers mostly for the north and west with lots of rain for Ireland but most places will see some rain.

"We could see another weather front coming in moving through Wednesday".

Mr Bett also said that after a rainy Sunday throughout the United Kingdom the band of rain will move northwards on Monday targeting Scotland and Northern Ireland, with additional persistent rain in northern Wales.

The Met Office said that brutal weather systems will sweep in from the Atlantic over the next week giving the weather a shake-up.

Saturday is expected to be dry through daylight hours with some good sunny spells to start. "It will be breezy as the showers pass, but especially windy near the south coast", said the Met Office.

Forecasters do not expect to see the scorching weather return any- time soon to the UK.

Storm Debby is now making its way over the Atlantic and the change in weather this weekend is due to the tail end of the Storm.

And the meteorologist continued: "The remnants of Storm Debby, merged with low pressure, will bring heavy rain and some strong winds".

However the mercury will rocket again next weekend with a blistering heatwave likely to see out summer, according to some forecasters. A cold front will bring scattered storms Friday, followed by highs in the 80s next weekend.

"Outbreaks of rain on Sunday turning increasingly showery with some brighter spells developing".
