QuakeCon 2018: Fallout 76's Solution To Dealing With Griefers Is Brutal

You can block and ignore particular players, so you won't have to deal with someone who regularly makes your game miserable.

Players who are thinking about trolling other players in Fallout 76 may want to reconsider, as the game will implement a system that will punish griefers.

Hopefully this will deter certain players from killing others without good reason.

At QuakeCon 2018, Bethesda was finally ready to explain exactly how PvP will work in Fallout 76 and how it aims to discourage griefing. If a player chooses to take up the cause of a bounty hunter they will be rewarded with caps (from the griefer's own wallet) for the kill. Should they continue attacking and end up killing players who don't want a fight, griefers will be marked as wanted murderers with a bounty on their head that'll be paid out of their pocket. Players will start with one point in Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck, and every level they can add another point to one stat.

The Fallout 76 panel, as expected, was led by director Todd Howard.

The best part is that the funds will be subtracted from the offending player's account after they're killed.

When players die in Fallout 76, they will not lose their equipped weapons and armor. When you die, the only outcome is that you drop the junk you're collecting, which is used to build. Armor and weaponry isn't lost upon death, so the only decision you have to make after dying is whether you want to go back and collect your resources. There are stashes in your camp and around the world that allow you to store what you're carrying, so you don't constantly explore with the risk of losing your resources.

Players will also be able to respawn in any location that they have unlocked. You can also upgrade existing perks when you level up, ramping up their power, but also increasing their point cost. Meanwhile, the game will balance things when players engage opponents with much higher levels.
