Alex Jones removed from Vimeo | Engadget Today

YouTube InfoWars

Video-sharing service Vimeo is the latest platform to ban Alex Jones and his controversial network InfoWars, citing the show violated the company's terms of service.

The InfoWars videos were removed Sunday citing violations of the company's terms of service, which prohibit discriminatory and hateful content. Jones has been trying to recoup some of his losses by spreading unhinged theories, promoting his website, mobile app and encouraging listeners to purchase the diet supplements and survivalist gear. Zuckerberg felt removing the videos from the social platform was exactly what Jones wanted to bring more attention to himself.

We struggle to name a human being as terrible as the stinking rotten block of cheese in the national refrigerator named Alex Jones.

The 44-year-old saw his personal and InfoWars content removed from a host of the internet's biggest sites in an unprecedented series of bans this week.

As the Inquisitr reported, Infowars host Alex Jones was banned by Facebook, Apple, YouTube, and Spotify earlier this week. Twitter threads have emerged instructing users to block the firm's most lucrative advertisers, in a bid to put pressure on the platform to oust Jones.

The saga of Alex Jones and Infowars seems to have sparked a debate about the limits of free speech, about the fine line between free speech and calls for violence, and about digital monopolies.

Jones was also sued for defamation by the parents of two children who died in the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre in CT in April.

That content was manually reviewed by Vimeo's Trust & Safety team, and a violation was determined within 48 hours of the videos being added before being removed.

While most social media sites have turned their back on Jones, at least two are still allowing him and InfoWars to post freely-Google Plus and Twitter.
