Celtic have captured teenage Australia worldwide Daniel Arzani on a two-year loan from Manchester City.

In an interview on Celtic's official website, he said: "Celtic is a massive club with a great history and one of the best followings in the world, so I'm looking forward to getting started".

"I had a phone call from the gaffer Brendan Rodgers and he swayed my decision and convinced me to come here", Arzani said, speaking at Celtic's Lennoxtown training complex.

"We've had a couple of targets we haven't been able to get, but I've always had a very, very good relationship with the board and that's the same, even though some people will try to dismantle that", the manager told BT Sport.

"But, for me, it's about coming here, doing the best that I can and helping the club as much as possible".

The Australian global joins the Bhoys on a two-year loan deal after plying his trade at City Football Group club Melbourne City last season.

Arzani said that his worldwide teammate Tom Rogic, who recently signed a new contract at Celtic, had played a part in convincing him to join the Scottish champions.

Twitter user Labour Celtic Fans though was not happy with the club signing an attacking player, with defenders being the need of the hour at the club, putting the Champions League failure on the lack of a centre-back and right-back.

The former Celtic striker was impressed with the display produced by Gamboa for the Hoops against Thistle away from home at the Firhill Stadium in the second round of the Scottish League Cup.

"I got along with him as a person, he is a really nice guy".

"I'm here for two seasons at least and my focus is to develop as a player".
