Fans Injured Waiting For Backstreet Boys Concert At WinStar Casino

People were injured at a Backstreet Boys concert Saturday in Oklahoma after a storm caused a structure to collapse

Member of the Backstreet Boys, Kevin Richardson, posted a tweet regarding the accident.

He tweeted: 'Update... unfortunately, due to damage sustained in the storm earlier this evening, we are unable to perform the show tonight. Safety is always #1. Keep your tickets because, Backstreet WILL BE BACK!'

Fans waiting to see a Backstreet Boys concert in Oklahoma have been injured after a pavilion collapsed.

The storm caused the metal trusses holding up the entryway to fall to the ground at around 5.30pm, hitting multiple people.

At least 14 people were sent to the hospital Saturday after a storm knocked over concert entrance trusses at an Oklahoma outdoor concert venue hosting the Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees, a spokeswoman for the property owner said.

Koko 5 News from Oklahoma reported that about 10 ambulances went to the WinStar Casino in Thackerville where people were queuing to get into the 12,000 seat venue. At least 14 people were taken to area hospitals, some of them rushed away on stretchers.

"We know that fans often suffer through inclement weather for their favorite acts, but this was an unusual event and our thoughts are with those who were injured during this storm", the statement said. Severe weather, high winds and rain just passed thru here in Thackerville, OK.

Everyone who was injured was treated at the scene, according to reports.

Richardson said the show was sold out.

Witnesses say heavy rain and strong winds blew the tent where people were waiting on the show on top of people's heads. Several fans sprung to action including former nurse in army.
