Dua Lipa 'proud' of fans after concert removal

As seen on Twitter Wednesday night (below), multiple attendees were forcibly removed by security as the New Rules singer performed on stage.

Dua wrote on her Twitter that what her fans did was emblematic of their bravery, and she added that she "always wants (her) music to bring strength, hope, and unity".

"I stood by them, sang with them and danced with them". I would love in these last few songs for us to really, really, really enjoy ourselves.

As the fans were being escorted from the venue, a fight broke out between the concertgoers and a group of security guards.

The rights in China are behind that of the United Kingdom, meaning that the fans who shared the flag were actively persecuted.

The man was being held around the neck in a headlock before being removed, she said.

"Many fans at the front rows were holding the rainbow flags high, and I heard they were ordered to take down the flags, especially the fans in the first three rows..."

Update, 8 a.m. EST: Lipa has now addressed the Shanghai uproar in an Instagram post, which notes that she was "horrified" by the situation.

As someone who goes to concerts and gigs a lot, I want to consider these environments as safe spaces for all music lovers.

One woman, who was at the concert with her daughter, told the BBC that people were being ejected "just for standing up"' during the show.

It was alleged that the fan had given one of the security guards the middle finger after being told to sit down.

In videos posted to social media from the show, guards appear to yank audience members from the crowd and push one around outside.

'There is no need (for the staff) to catch them and kick them out as if they were fugitives'.

While another added: "I just found out that at Dua Lipa's last concert, the security of the place expelled fans who wore an LGBT flag, which is a disgusting injustice".
