Fewer Americans Say Donald Trump is Intelligent Than Ever Before

The U.S. Capitol stands at sunset in Washington D.C. U.S. on Thursday Feb. 8 2018

The Quinnipiac University national poll showed that 56 percent of voters - including 61 percent of independents - said they are not on board with the impeachment from liberal Democrats. Further, independent voters back Democrats over Republicans by 50-35 percent, according to the poll.

Only Rasmussen gave Trump a total approval rating above 45 percent.

Almost half of all registered American voters - 47 percent - say Congress should begin impeachment proceedings that could lead to President Donald Trump being removed from office, according to a new poll from CNN.

The Economist-YouGov poll surveyed 1,500 USA adults from September 9 to 11 and has a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points.

The CNN poll released on Monday showed that only 32 percent of respondents believed that Trump was "honest and trustworthy".

The latest CNN poll has Trump's approval rate at 36 percent, down from 42 last month. "An anemic 38 percent approval rating is compounded by lows on honesty, strength and intelligence", Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, said in a statement.

Each book describes a White House in chaos and Trump aides shielding the president from information in efforts to curb potentially unsafe policies or actions.

"By a 14-point margin, Americans would rather vote for the Democratic candidate in their local race for the U.S. House of Representatives".

The president's party often gets clobbered in midterm election years. Trump has an approval rating of just above 40 percent, versus roughly 53 percent who disapprove of him, according to FiveThirtyEight's rolling average of polls. Watergate reporter Bob Woodward published a book recently that depicted the current chaos in the White House as well.

Also coming in the weeks ahead is what is known as the generic ballot poll, which simply asks voters about their party preference for November.
