The Cube Has Melted into Loot Lake

The Fortnite Cube just melted in Loot Lake! Epic Games event just keeps getting stranger

Fortnite's mysterious cube has been on the move for several weeks, but as season 5 draws to a close, it's finally reached its oft-rumored destination: Loot Lake. The lake now has the same material as the cube and causes players to bounce across the surface, similar to the game's Hop Rocks item from Season 4. If some of the recent leaks are true, this is where the cube will activate for the last time. This was backed up by volcano assets being found in the Battle Royale gamemode files. You should stay tuned for the latest news about the cube. We were there to witness it firsthand as the cube took its final turn from the docks and into the water.

However, it looks like time has already been called on the new construction as the odd purple cube that has been travelling around the map has quite literally levelled it to the ground once more.

Right now, the cube is moving approximately every 27 minutes. It even destroyed the recently renovated building in Tilted Towers earlier today. There are some notable differences - you can't anger the purple lake by shooting it, for example, and it no longer hits people with lightning bolts if disturbed.

Fortnite fans watched the cube with great interest earlier today, entire livestreams having been dedicated to following the cube's progression as it rested, almost tipped, at the edge of the lake.
