U.S. Slaps Sanctions on Some Russians Indicted in Mueller Probe

The administration announced sanctions Thursday against almost three dozen Russian individuals and entities, and a section of Beijing's military.

India and Russian Federation signed an agreement in 2016 to buy the "Triumf" S-400 missile system in 2016 but the U.S. law CAATSA (Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act) could be a hurdle.

"We strongly urge the United States to immediately correct this mistake and rescind the sanctions, or else the U.S. will bear the consequences", Geng warned.

As if there weren't already enough reasons to be pessimistic about US-China relations, a new front of disagreement opened on Thursday when it was announced that China will be punished for violating Washington's sweeping Russian Federation sanctions regime.

"It would be good for them to remember there is such a concept as global stability which they are thoughtlessly undermining by whipping up tensions in Russian-American ties", said Ryabkov.

Moscow and Beijing lashed out Friday at Washington's new anti-Russian sanctions that also target China for the first time, warning the United States could face consequences.

"Playing with fire is stupid and can become risky".

All property belonging to the EDD that's within US control will be blocked. Under the sanctions law, China's Equipment Development Department, along with its chief Li Shangfu, will be prohibited from accessing the USA financial system and any assets they hold in the U.S. will be frozen.

Speaking to reporters at a regular press conference on Friday, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said the sanctions were unreasonable, adding: "The US actions have seriously violated the basic principles of worldwide relations and seriously damaged the relations between the two countries and the two militaries". "We strongly call on the U.S.to remedy the mistake and cancel the sanctions. Otherwise, the US has to bear the consequences".
