FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD Trailer Reveals A Suprise Character

The final trailer of Eddie Redmayne, Jude Law and Johnny Depp starrer Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is here and it looks every bit as magical and epic as one would have hoped. Here's everything you need to know.

"She wants to stay a human being and I think that's a wonderful contrast to the character".

The final trailer was released on Tuesday and sees Claudia Kim's mysterious character revealed to be Nagini, Lord Voldemort's, or Tom Riddle's, snake and eventual Horcrux. As Rowling explained on Twitter, a Maledictus is a bit of a hybrid. Well, at least, what we know so far! "She is bound to [permanently] transform at some point to a beast so she feels this pressure that the clock is ticking". From what we can see in the trailer, Nagini seems to be embracing her powers to perform for muggles in the traveling show. Was Nagini once a hero before she was a murderous snake? She appears in snake form a number of times in the original Harry Potter octalogy, most notably killing Severus Snape before being subsequently beheaded by Hot Neville Longbottom. Wait, are we going to end up feeling SORRY for Nagini??? Yes, we have a new woman of color in the universe of Harry Potter ... who is destined to lose control, turn into a serpent forever, and become the tool of one of the most powerful white wizards of all time?

While my mind automatically jumped to "Animagus" (a witch or wizard who can transform themselves into an animal at will ) after I saw the trailer - after all, we see Nagini willingly transform while performing at the circus - Rowling is quick to remind us that Nagini is a "Maledictus", a person with a blood curse that eventually transforms them permanently into a beast.

Ahead of the film's upcoming premiere, David Yates's J.K. Rowling-penned sequel to 2016's Harry Potter prequel immerses viewers in a wizarding world at war, courtesy of white-haired villain Grindelwald (Johnny Depp), who intends to decimate a 100-year truce between magical and muggle societies by spearheading a revolution aimed at putting his kind on top. All secrets will be revealed then!
