Netflix Announces Release Date for ‘Making a Murderer’ Season 2

Murderer

There are ten new episodes which will give an in-depth insight into the postconviction process, exploring the emotional toll on all those involved.

Making a Murderer Part 2 is officially returning to Netflix next month!

Will you be watching Making a Murderer season 2 when it comes out on October 19?

But after filing a $36 million (£24.4 million) lawsuit against Manitowoc County over the wrongful conviction, Avery was soon accused and convicted of photographer Teresa Halbach's murder - who went missing around the Avery family scrap yard.

Netflix says the second part of their Emmy Award-winning series detailing the cases of Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey will premiere October 19 on the streaming service. I wish I shared their faith in Avery, but instead I wouldn't be surprised if we got another muddled season where the intentions are good, but the story can't support it.

Part two of Making a Murder will feature 10 episodes, detailing the post-conviction process and the attempts to exonerate Steven Avery and his nephew and co-defendant, Brendan Dassey. Dassey has argued detectives coerced him into confessing that he helped Avery rape and kill Halbach. Avery maintains that he was wrongly convicted, and has petitioned for a retrial, but his appeal was rejected in 2011.

"Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice", said Ricciardi and Demos in a statement.

The documentary series also followed the arrest and conviction of his nephew Brendan Dassey, who was charged after delivering a confession. "We are thrilled to be able to share this new phase of the journey with viewers".

Kathleen Zellner, a lawyer who specializes in wrongful convictions, will be featured as she worked on Avery's case, while Dassey's attorneys, Laura Nirider and Steven Drizin, were followed as they tried to prove their client's testimony was involuntary.

Making a Murderer Part 2 is a Synthesis Films Production.
