Tiger's Back! Woods Brings Home First Golf Victory Since 2013

Tiger Woods of the United States poses with the trophy after winning the TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club

With a two-shot win at the Tour Championship in Atlanta, legendary U.S. golfer Tiger Woods clinched the comeback he longed for, after a near two-year absence in the sport and a championship drought of more than five years.

England's world number one Justin Rose finished tied fourth to secure the overall FedEx Cup which determines the season-long PGA Tour champion.

According to United States publication Heavy, she was the general manager at the golfer's restaurant, The Woods Jupiter, for several months. He said as part of his recovery process he had to work around his back injury.

"Probably the low point was not knowing if I'd ever be able to live pain-free again", Woods said afterward.

Immediately after his two stroke win over Billy Horschel, Tiger was greeted with a kiss from girlfriend Erica Herman.

"I just can't believe I pulled this off", Woods, 42, said at the trophy presentation.

The victory was Woods' 80th on the PGA Tour, two short of Sam Snead's career record.

In May a year ago, Woods was arrested on a driving under the influence charge after being found slumped at the wheel of his auto in Florida.

But this weekend he looked like the golfer who was ranked No. 1 in the world for a record 683 weeks, has won 14 major titles (second only to Jack Nicklaus with 18) and who has won the FedEx Cup twice.

The former world No.1 played his final round alongside Rory McIlroy, whose own hopes of victory dissipated after he carded a disappointing 74, but was full of admiration for his one-time golfing idol. "Out of 40 majors can he win five of them?"

Tiger Woods celebrates his Tour Championship win.

Woods eventually won by two shots with victory all-but guaranteed by a trademark, laser-like iron approach to the final hole.

Woods said he heard it but didn't see it as he didn't turn around. Wood's last victory was in 2013 at the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. "It's been tough. I've had a not-so-easy last couple of years".

April 26, 2011: Woods announces he will miss the Wells Fargo Championship after spraining his left knee and Achilles tendon while hitting an awkward recovery shot during the third round of the Masters. "My back was in a pretty bad spot there", Woods told CNN.

"Some of the other players knew what I was struggling with".

Woods will now turn his attention to the Ryder Cup, which takes place next week in France.

Fans chanted Woods' name and some screamed, "I love you, Tiger!".

Less than a year ago the 14-time Major victor found himself at 1,199 in the world rankings after having spinal fusion surgery.
