Trump Accidentally Tweets That Dems Are Pushing ‘False Acquisitions’ Against Kavanaugh

Judge Brett Kavanaugh and his wife Ashley Kavanaugh are interviewed on Fox News

The first woman to come forward with accusations against Kavanaugh, Christine Blasey Ford, told the Senate Judiciary Committee she was telling "the truth" in claiming a drunken Kavanaugh tried to undress her and that she had feared for her life during a high school party.

"What I know is the truth, and the truth is I've never sexually assaulted anyone", Kavanaugh said.

He acknowledged that he could have met her - they were at school in the same area of Maryland in 1982 - but said he had "never sexually assaulted anyone, not in high school, not ever". The New Yorker reported allegations from Debbie Ramirez on Sunday, who claimed Kavanaugh exposed himself to her during a party at Yale University when he was a freshman.

"I think he was anxious to get his story out", said MacCallum, who noted she and her staff have been furiously working this story, reaching out not only to Kavanaugh's team, but also the women who have made allegations against him.

Just hours later, The New Yorker dropped a new bombshell, reporting that a second woman was accusing the Washington appeals court judge of sexual misconduct, while they were students at Yale University around 1983-84.

"I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process", Kavanaugh, a conservative federal appeals court judge nominated by Trump in July for a lifetime job on the top USA court, wrote in a letter to the Republican-led Senate Judiciary Committee, which is overseeing the confirmation process.

"I'm not going to let false accusations drive us out of this process", Kavanaugh also told Fox News.

"I'm not going to let false accusations drive us out of this process".

"The White House stands firmly behind Judge Kavanaugh".

"I'm not going anywhere", he told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum as his wife, Ashley Estes Kavanaugh, sat next to him. She said they were playing a drinking game at the time and admits there are gaps in her memory of that night.

"It is from this experience that I concluded that although Brett was normally reserved, he was a notably heavy drinker, even by the standards of the time, and that he became aggressive and belligerent when he was very drunk", Roche said.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, a member of the Judiciary Committee, referred to Ramirez's allegation as "phony", and when pressed on why he characterized it that way, Hatch responded: "Because I know it is".

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Sunday slammed Democrats for "withholding information" in relation to the sexual assault allegations against Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

If Kavanaugh's nomination does make it to a vote from the entire U.S. Senate, it is possible that some GOP senators could join Democrats in voting against the nominee. He said Mr. Trump called him in the afternoon to show his support.

For Democrats, the row is a golden opportunity to build on anger among female voters at Trump's often dismissive attitude to allegations of sexual misconduct - including against the president himself.

Protesters opposed to Kavanaugh's confirmation held a series of rallies in Washington, New York, Philadelphia and elsewhere. Several Republicans on the committee have said they want to vote on Kavanaugh's nomination shortly after the Thursday hearing. "In my opinion, it's totally political".

On Monday, Trump called the accusations among "the single most unfair, unjust things to happen to a candidate for anything". After "six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney", she felt confident enough to go public, the report said.
