Chance the Rapper giving $1M to boost mental health services

Chance The Rapper pledges $1 million to mental health services in Chicago

While at Chicago's Paul Robeson High Schoo, l he shared, "Quality education for public schools is the most important investment a community can make". Now, he's set his charitable sights on mental health services.

While at the summit, Chance made a groundbreaking announcement revealing plans to make a one million dollar donation towards improving the mental health services available to the people of his native city, Chicago.

And that's not all!

Six mental health providers in Cook County will each get $100,000 grants and SocialWorks is starting an initiative called "My State of Mind" to help connect people with treatment. At the event, Chance and his non-profit organization SocialWorks announced a number of different support initiatives in Chicago, focusing primarily on two points: mental health, and supporting the Chicago Public Schools. Chance added. "We will be upping the game in terms of equity, in terms of what is rightfully yours. Principals, teachers, we got your back", he said. During the announcement, Chance explained that a major focus for the initiative stems from wanting "to change the way that mental health resources are being accessed".
