Three more people have died as a result of complications after contracting the West Nile virus, bringing the death toll across Greece from the beginning of the year so far to 34, according to authorities.

It is "the highest number of cases MA has ever recorded in a single year", according to a statement from the department.

Last year, six human cases of West Nile virus were identified in MA, according to the statement.

According to health services, one pool of mosquitoes collected by the Nueces County Vector Control showed a match for the West Nile Virus.

Of the nine, two remain hospitalized, six were hospitalized, and one was not hospitalized.

This has been a particularly active year for the virus in New Jersey with 43 cases of West Nile Virus confirmed as of Saturday, September 29th.

Most people infected will not have any symptoms, while others may experience fever, headache and body aches.

"The forecast includes some warm fall temperatures", said Public Health Commissioner Monica Bharel, MD, MPH.

The last reported case of someone dying from West Nile virus in the area was back in 2016.

Human risk for West Nile will continue until the first hard frost, department spokesman Omar Cabrera has said.
