Woman dies after alleged stabbing in Rockingham

Police activity at a block of flats in Kent Street Rockingham where a woman was stabbed and later died

THE Homicide Squad is investigating the death of a woman after an incident in Rockingham overnight.

The woman is believed to have then driven herself to Dome Cafe on the Rockingham Esplanade for assistance.

The West reports, the woman stumbled into the Dome on Kent Street just before 6pm on Saturday night.

St John Ambulance paramedics took the woman to Fiona Stanley Hospital last night under priority road conditions.

A 37-year-old Rockingham man has been charged with murder and will appear in the Rockingham Magistrate's Court today.

"We can't comment on the specifics of this case at this time, but all social workers have the right to be safe as they go about their jobs".

It is understood she worked for a non-government agency funded by the State government.

In a statement, Dome Café said the workers who tried to help the woman will be offered counselling.

"Our thoughts are with all those affected by this incident".
