Jamaal Charles To Jaguars: Fantasy Impact Of Running Back’s Signing

The Jaguars have been riddled with injuries in the backfield, with Leonard Fournette missing his fourth game with an ailing hamstring and Corey Grant dealing with a foot injury.

You knew the Jacksonville Jaguars would add another running back or two to their depleted running back situation. T.J. Yeldon started for Fournette in Sunday's game in Kansas City.

Charles turns 32 on December 27, but he has had a light workload the past three years. He's played in just 22 games over the last three seasons. Charles tore his right ACL in October 2015 and was released by the Chiefs after he underwent multiple knee surgeries in 2016. Per Ryan O'Halloran of the Denver Post, that signing will be a member from the Denver Broncos' practice squad in David Williams, who is expected to sign with Jags Tuesday. Yeldon was impressive last week, rushing 10 times for 53 yards and was an even bigger force in the passing game with eight catches for 69 yards and a touchdown. Per ESPN Stats & Information, Charles' 5.4 yards per carry is better than Jim Brown (5.2) and Barry Sanders (5.0). Grant had little success as an inside runner (six carries for 21 yards), but thrived catching the ball on the perimeter, so his presence on the field was a tipoff to the defense.

The #Jaguars are bringing in running backs given their slew of injuries and source said veteran RB Jamaal Charles is one of them. It will be interesting to see the workload division when Fournette returns, though when that will be remains unclear.
