Microsoft has unveiled their revolutionary Project xCloud - a streaming service set to bring Xbox One game to mobiles, PC, and consoles no matter where you are. More than 3,000 Xbox One games, and those now in development, can be scaled for access across all devices on Project xCloud from today.
Project xCloud is to enter a public testing stage in 2019 and the technology, which sees Xbox One components installed in server datacenters, is meant to allow Xbox games to be played "on any device".
The games played across the globe now are mostly dictated by the devices used by the individuals.
Project xCloud is already up and running, but it'll take a while to come to market as the company works out latency and compression technology for the best experience.
Though Project xCloud will be extremely useful to gamers who don't want to download, it'll be a particular leap forward for mobile and PC.
Microsoft's Project xCloud will make video games available on 4G networks and will slowly approach the outer limits of what's possible on 5G networks as they emerge globally.
This isn't a new thing for Xbox players as they've been able to stream their Xbox to their Windows 10 PCs for a while now, but this time it'll extend further than the PC.
Microsoft has announced its own online game streaming service: Project xCloud. Microsoft has broken Xbox's into their individual components and created a single server "blade" that can host multiple consoles. As for how these games will be controlled on the mobile devices, wireless Xbox controllers will be used. Rest assured, if a problem crops up in nearly any corner of the world, Microsoft will at the very least, be able to hear about it and take steps to ensure that the problem is solved as quickly as possible.
Essentially, devs will need to run video games on smartphones and tablets using bluetooth Xbox controllers or via touch.
Problems Microsoft now face include low-latency video, frame rates, and supporting a large, multi-user network.
You can see more in the video yourself down below. The tech is expected to hit public beta in 2019. "In addition to solving latency, other important considerations are supporting the graphical fidelity and framerates that preserve the artist's original intentions, and the type of input a player has available", says Microsoft in a blog post.
