Where do things stand with Jimmy Butler's trade request?

Butler reportedly told the Timberwolves he wants to be traded by Friday. However, Woj reports that Butler was verbally challenging teammates, coaches and the front office.

Proposed changes from Minnesota created a breakdown in earlier trade negotiations just as the teams were close to finalizing a deal.

Barring a change in the dwindling trade market between now and the season opener in San Antonio on October 17, the Timberwolves are making preparations to start the season with Butler on the roster, league sources said...

Butler participated in multiple intrasquad scrimmages, where he joined the bench units against the starters and went out of his way to challenge the team's two young stars, Towns and Wiggins, league sources said. At times, Butler has been working out away from the team at the facility since his trade request three weeks ago.He was with his teammates in the locker room at the team's practice facility Wednesday morning, league sources said.

So where do we stand in the Jimmy Butler trade saga seven days from opening night?

As stated before, not only would fans be mad, but there are certain players on the Wolves that would potentially riot over Butler coming back to the forefront of the Wolves' starting lineup. According to ESPN's Stefano Fusaro, the Timberwolves reportedly asked for Tucker and shooting guard Eric Gordon in a trade involving the 29-year old guard.

The Miami Heat and the Timberwolves were rumored to be interested in a deal involving Butler. According to Krawczyinski, Minnesota is "making preparations to start the season with Butler on the roster". These probably aren't the actions teams that have interest in him, either via trade or when he's a free agent next summer, want to see.

Butler showed up for his first practice of the preseason on Wednesday, and he didn't exactly opt to blend in with his Timberwolves' teammates.
