Cameroon's National Basketball Association star signs shoe deal with Under Armour

Joel Embiid Signs With Under Armour

After wearing Adidas previously, it was announced today that Embiid had officially switched shoe brands and had signed with Under Armour.

Kansas center Joel Embiid ties a shoe during practice for the Jayhawks' opening NCAA basketball game in the Big 12 men's tournament in Kansas City, Mo., Wednesday, March 12, 2014.

"There's a stereotype about big men that can't sell shoes". When I look at myself ...

Embiid submitted his signed offer sheet on September 28 after the 76ers' annual media day session had concluded. I'm more than a big man.

Basketball has given me everything, but it has to be bigger than basketball.

His prior brand, Adidas, had up to 10 business days to exercise its standard "match clause" rights on the Under Armour offer sheet, but the company moved quickly and had notified Embiid and his CAA representatives by the following morning that it would be declining to match. "So as far as signature shoes, I'm excited to come and break that".

It's great that Embiid has confidence in the brand he can build upon. "That was the first thing that I said to Under Armour, and they were behind it 100 percent".

Embiid joins a stacked Under Armour roster which features Golden State Warriors point guard, Steph Curry, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper. According to NBA Shoes DB, that list of players include: Stephen Curry, Kent Bazemore, Jerian Grant, Andrew Harrison, Emmanuel Mudiay, Delon Wright, Pat Connaughton, Raymond Felton, Patty Mills, Will Barton and Seth Curry.
