First ‘Aladdin’ Poster Teases Disney’s Live-Action Remake

Will Smith revealed the first poster for DIsney's live-action Aladdin remake in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

This new rendering of the magic lamp marks a pleasing call-back to the 1992 theatrical poster, which also featured the lamp front-and-centre - here's a reminder if your memory doesn't stretch back 26 years.

Smith voices Genie, the comical blue Jinn who grants three wishes to whoever possesses his magical lamp. "Can't wait for y'all to see me BLUE!"

In eight hours, the post received more than 2.6 million "likes" and more than 85,000 comments.

Aladdin is directed by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) from a screenplay by John August (Dark Shadows, Big Fish) based on the 1992 animated film Aladdin and stories from "One Thousand and One Nights". Williams won a special Golden Globe Award in 1993 for his work on the film.

The Broadway production of "Aladdin" has been running since March 2014. Smith plays Genie alongside Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Campbell as Jasmine, and Marwan Kenzari as Jafar.

The live-action Aladdin started filming in September 2017, a few months delayed after a prolonged casting process.
