HMD Global to launch a new Nokia phone today at 12 pm

Anyhow, at the Nokia 7.1 event the other week, there was promise of Android 9 Pie for Nokia handsets, and a week later, the first phone in line for the update has received it. The sale for Nokia 3.1 Plus begins October 19. "As the name suggests, it's a larger version of the Nokia 3.1 that launched in the summer (of which Corbin was a big fan), with the screen size jumping up to 6 inches from 5.2". Although, the display seems satisfactory and renders quite vivid colours and the viewing angles are decent. It comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It houses a 13 MP+5 MP dual rear camera with an f/2.0, PDAF lens and f/2.4, fixed focus lens. Notably, with the combination of a lower resolution display and a power efficient chipset, you could see a boost in the smartphone's stamina; therefore, delivering better battery life. It comes with a dedicated microSD card slot, enabling users to further expand the phone's storage capacity.

I got the 3GB+32GB variant for review and during my usage (three-four days), the phone performed well in day-to-day tasks, but when it comes to gaming, the phone started showing lags. HMD has proven itself to be a reliable option when it comes to seeding software updates, so no questions in that aspect.

P22 is MediaTek's mid-range chipset, built on a 12nm process clocked at up to 2.0GHz.

Surprisingly, the Nokia 7.1 Plus could have a rather small 3,300mAh battery that would receive power through a USB Type-C port, and support up to 18W Fast Charging. It can even connect to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1 and Global Positioning System.

HMD has added dual cameras on the rear side of Nokia 3.1 Plus. Combined, the 3.1 Plus offers hardware-based bokeh effect inside the images. The front camera is an 8MP wide-angle lens, ideal for those who want to take expansive selfies.

The phone features a 2-megapixel camera at the back along with a LED flash. Take a look at the sample shots captured using the Nokia 3.1 Plus during my usage. Interestingly, HMD Global is hosting an event in India today. And with the Nokia 3.1 Plus, the brand is looking to replicate the same success in the offline market.
