Man accidentally stabbed at Tennessee haunted house, worker suspended

The stabbing victim told police that he and his friend thought the knife was a prop. The man who allegedly sup

The disastrous mix-up occurred as a group of friends were lining up to see the "Nashville Nightmare" haunted house in Tennessee, US, about 9pm on Friday.

A woman who stabbed her friend in the arm said she thought she was playing along with a scene and given a prop knife, according to a police report.

The 29-year-old was rushed to hospital needing nine stitches after a stranger dressed in a Halloween costume, who they assumed was a member of staff, came up to them and handed the woman a knife. "I go all out for decorating".

He was especially excited about Nashville Nightmare, since he previously enjoyed scary nights at other locations run by the production company, Thirteenth Floor Attractions, in Texas.

"We'd had so much fun, we were jumping around", he said. There were character actors in a courtyard space near the escape game building and carnival games where the group was standing.

"Halloween is, ask any of my friends, my favorite time of year", he told The Tennessean.

He explained: 'Keep in mind, we'd been chased by chainsaws, holding other weapons, all kinds of stuff all night, and it was all fake.

A woman waiting in line at a Nashville Halloween attraction got the scare of her life when she unwittingly stabbed and injured one of her friends with a knife she believed to be fake.

When Yochim looked down, he saw blood pouring from a knife wound that went clear through his forearm.

The mystery man, who was wearing crystal skull make-up and a straw hat and "talking in character", then goaded Tawnya stab James as a joke by saying "well stab here", which she did because she thought it was a dummy weapon. I don't know....maybe don't stab your friends?

"No one wants to stab their friend", Yochim said, according to The Tennessean.

Witnesses told police that they all thought the knife was a prop. No weapons are allowed inside the attraction. In a Tuesday statement, Nashville Nightmare's organizers said an employee believed to be "involved in some way" had been placed on leave "until we can determine his involvement".

Nashville Nightmare said it has had a good reputation in the area, that their medical staff responded immediately to the incident and they are investigating further. Though it didn't hit any major arteries, bones, or tendons, "his arm was gushing blood like something out of a horror scene", Greenfield tells Fox 17.
