New quadruple-camera Samsung Galaxy A9 is designed for Instagram fans

The Galaxy A9 smartphone from Samsung is believed to have been recently spotted in the Geekbench results under the SM-A9200 codename.

Samsung is scheduled to unveil its next-generation Galaxy A9 family of smartphones tomorrow, and one of the headlining features of the device will be its quad-camera setup on the back. Samsung has already launched the "flagship" Galaxy S9 and the plus-size Note 9 this year. More triple rear camera phones have been released afterward but some manufacturers are bent on setting a new record by releasing a phone with a quadruple rear camera system.

The Korean company's new phone will also feature mobile payment capabilities and expandable storage of up to 512GB.

Security-wise, the device comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back as well as face recognition.

Galaxy A9 arrives in three colours; Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, USB Type-C, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). "In a world like this, everyone deserves access to the technology that delivers the most value in their eyes".

"Building on our legacy in smartphone camera development we're introducing next-generation technology across our entire Galaxy portfolio to give more consumers the opportunity to experience cutting-edge innovation".

Samsung last week flagged record third-quarter profits likely driven by strong demand for its memory chips, but analysts have said its mobile business will continue to struggle.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 will be released in selected markets from November 2018.
