That Light in the Sky? Another SpaceX Rocket Launch

The company, led by Elon Musk, sells launches on used Falcon 9 first-stage boosters at a discount, compared to the 62-million-U.S. -dollar price of a launch on a new Falcon 9 rocket.

Until that time, enjoy the pics released by SpaceX showing last weekend's launch in California. The company declared their victory on the live webcast.

The recent successful landing of the SpaceX Falcon 9 reusable parts on California's Vandenberg base can help SpaceX in its attempt to save costs and develop reusable rockets.

Until now, all the booster landings of SpaceX have all taken place on the deck of the company's drone ship, named Just Read the Instructions.

The mission, mainly to gather soil moisture information, consists of a constellation of two identical satellites, SAOCOM 1A and 1B, both of which carry an L-Band SAR polarimetric instrument. Since the night sky was absolutely clear, without a single shred of cloud, the Falcon's show was on full display.

If you're in the vicinity of Vandenberg Air Force Base in California Sunday evening (Oct. 7), you might hear some unusual booming and see some weird lights in the sky. Well, now you know, it's not a UFO!

The rocket took off from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Air Force Base, and as it ascended to orbit it became visible for people in San Francisco and Sacramento in California, Phoenix in Arizona and a few in Nevada. This will save the time as the rocket will not travelling much for the launch site and this will help the company to reuse the same in less time. Only 12 of these launches has managed to land on the solid ground. However, all those landings took place at the launch site of Florida's Cape Canaveral, where Elon Musk's firm has a pair of launch and landing pads.
