Facebook has finally begun testing the ability to unsend messages on Messenger

Earlier in the year, Facebook was caught with its hand in the proverbial cookie jar, as the company was found to be deleting messages Mark Zuckerberg and other executives had sent using its messaging platform.

Jane Wong notes that you'll only be able to unsend a message for a set amount of time after it's been sent, so you won't be able to erase your mistakes the morning after.

After a six-month hiatus and little to no information about the company's plans, Facebook is now testing the feature. Currently, Messenger users are only able to delete messages from their inbox, though the sender/recepient will be able to see the message in his/her inbox.

Facebook confirmed to TechCrunch that it was testing the new feature before it officially launched it to all users.

According to the leakster, Facebook will only allow users to unsend a message for a certain point of time, after which points it becomes impossible to delete.

"Facebook Messenger is finally working on "Unsend Message" in the app for everyone", she tweeted. Facebook, though, would need to ensure that the Unsend message tool does not get misused, or be another source through which user privacy could be compromised.
