Bosa leaving OSU to prepare for National Football League draft

An injury gave Nick Bosa time to think about his future, and the defensive end decided that it does not include returning to Ohio State. Instead, he intends to turn his focus to what was already his inevitable next step: the 2019 NFL Draft.

Urban Meyer on Monday gave what seemed to be good news about a potential return by defensive end Nick Bosa when he said Bosa was going to Philadelphia on Tuesday to be re-evaluated.

Bosa, a junior, injured a core muscle in the third quarter of a 40-28 win over TCU on September 15, had surgery to fix the injury on September 20 and has since been recovering.

Considered one of the best players in college football, Bosa had left no doubt that he would leave school after this season to enter the draft. "I know this was an extremely hard and emotional decision for Nick and his family, and I wish him well as he moves on to get himself 100 percent healthy and ready for his next chapter".

Bosa was dominating from the start of his Ohio State career. The Dispatch added that Nick Bosa told Meyer and some of his staff of his decision on Sunday. The unit has dealt with other injuries, including to Bosa's replacement, Jonathan Cooper, and has shown a weakness for surrendering big plays. Bosa is projected by CBS Sports' latest mock draft as the No. 2 overall pick to the Indianapolis Colts.

Bosa is likely to make $30 million or so on his rookie contract.

Nick's older brother, Joey, himself a former Buckeyes edge rusher, was the No. 3 overall pick in 2016 and signed a four-year rookie deal worth almost $26 million. He's recorded a total of 17.5 sacks as a member of the Buckeyes, and stacked up four in the three games he was able to play in this year.

Nick Bosa's career at Ohio State is over.
