Feed your nightmares: BK offers Halloween themed burger

The Nightmare King sandwich will be available for a limited time

The Nightmare King has a recommended price of US$6.39 (NZ$9.74), according to the company. Based on the unique build of the sandwich, which consists of a mix of proteins like bacon, chicken and beef, plus cheese, the hypothesis was that this new burger could cause nightmares. It gets a quarter pound of flame-grilled beef and a crispy white meat chicken fillet topped with American cheese, bacon, mayonnaise and onions between a disgusting-looking emerald green sesame bun - and that is a nightmare within itself.

Burger King says its new Halloween sandwich is "clinically proven to induce nightmares".

In time for Halloween, the fast-food chain releases its "Nightmare King" in the U.S. on Monday, which will be available through November 1 at participating locations nationwide.

Doctors and scientists identified whether the individuals had vivid dreams by tracking various signals from the sleeping subjects including their heart rate, brain activity and breath.

"Someone. transformed into the figure of a snake", reported one of the study's subjects when asked about her dream. Another recalled "aliens attacking" a boat he was on.

Dr. Jose Gabriel Medina, a specialized somnologist, gleaned from the study that the "incidence of nightmares" increased by about 3.5 times for those who ate the Nightmare King before bed, according to an online statement. Burger King's Twitter account is on point.

The spooky sandwich will be available beginning October 22 for the price of $6.39.

Burger King is celebrating Halloween in a big way. If you're fearless enough, or just enjoy a good scare, visit your nearest participating Burger King restaurant and try the haunting new sandwich.
