John Krasinski can't and won't give up on more Quiet Place stories

The film pulled in $334.5 at the box office globally and earlier this year, the studio set the sequel for May 15, 2020, a date that gave the, plenty of time to figure out the right approach to a followup - and the right creative team to lead the charge.

It turns out Google are also sponsoring the whole week of Kimmel in anticipation for their release, so hopefully we can expect other considerable ideas later in the week too, with guests Bryan Cranston and John Krasinski expected to drop by. "Then I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn't think it would go anywhere".

The film was directed by John Krasinski, who starred opposite his real-life wife Emily Blunt. "And then I thought, 'This might really work.' So, I'm now writing the sequel".

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Krasinski initially told the studio to move forward with someone else crafting the sequel's story, but he ultimately couldn't let it go. They heard some pitches, and I told [Andrew Form, producer] about this little idea. "But I want to only tell it on this board". Krasinski turned down offers from Paramount to return to the franchise but eventually changed his mind and signed on to write the screenplay in August. But did you know that on top of co-writing, starring, and directing the creature feature, Krasinski also played the film's main monsters?

A Quiet Place 2 (the title we're now going with) will open on May 15, 2020.
