Cowboys Looking Into Trade For Amari Cooper

The Dallas Cowboys have done extensive work on Oakland Raiders wideout Amari Cooper as they consider trading for him before the October 30 deadline, according to an ESPN report on Sunday.

The report adds Dallas has "done an inordinate amount of due diligence" researching Cooper in recent days as the Cowboys are in dire need of a strong receiver.

The Cowboys are not alone; the Raiders have heard inquiries on Cooper from, among others, the Washington Redskins and Indianapolis Colts, according to a league source.

While the Dallas Cowboys have shown the most interest, the Colts have reportedly inquired about the fourth-year wide receiver, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Washington and the Indianapolis Colts have also reached out to the Raiders on Cooper. The Cowboys have traded for a Pro Bowl wide receiver before the trade deadline on one previous occasion: They sent first-, third-, sixth- and seventh-round picks to the Detroit Lions in 2008 for Roy Williams, who never topped 600 yards receiving in three full years with Dallas.

Cooper was a Pro Bowler each of his first two seasons, going for at least 1,000 yards and five touchdowns each.

The Redskins are an interesting trade partner for Cooper because they happen to be coached by another Gruden. Cooper is having an underwhelming season, with 22 catches for 280 yards and one touchdown in his first six games.

The 24-year-old receiver now is in the concussion protocol after taking a brutal hit in Oakland's loss to Seattle in London last week. He is now going through the NFL's concussion protocol, but the Raiders had a bye this past weekend regardless.
