Panthers' Eric Reid & Eagles' Malcolm Jenkins Get Into Pre-Game Scrap

Carolina's Eric Reid had to be restrained by team mates after confronting Malcolm Jenkins of the Philadelphia Eagles prior to their National Football League game on Sunday and later accused him of selling out the players' movement protesting social injustice.

A Carolina assistant coach and official had to restrain Reid on the sideline when the Eagles were being introduced.

Reid had to be separated from Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins before kickoff on Sunday when the two exchanged words at midfield after the captains meeting. Early in the first quarter, Reid came in on a blitz and threw quarterback Carson Wentz to the ground after Wentz gave the ball to a back.

Jenkins did not return fire and had nothing but praise for the social justice efforts of Reid and Kaepernick. Zach Ertz then stuck up for Wentz and then the two got into it, resulting in personal fouls both ways.

Ex-49er Eric Reid kneeled during the national anthem for the first time as a Carolina Panther.

Jenkins, the co-founder of the Players Coalition, initially joined in the protests.

Jenkins and Reid have a not-so-great history surrounding players protesting during the national anthem.

After the NFL agreed to donate almost $90 million to causes the coalition considered important, Jenkins stopped raising a fist of protest during the national anthem. Among Reid's concerns were where funds for the initiative came from.

"The Players Coalition is an NFL-funded subversion group", Reid said in his introductory press conference with Carolina in October.

"You couldn't pay me to say anything negative about them", Jenkins said.

Jenkins attempted to take the high road in his dispute with Reid.
