Patrick Peterson has asked Cardinals to trade him before deadline

Although the Arizona Cardinals have insisted that they have no plans to trade Patrick Peterson this year, it appears the All-Pro cornerback might be attempting to force their hand.

An Adam Schefter tweet Monday brought the subject up again, saying that Peterson had requested a trade.

"We're not trading Patrick", Wilks said, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks refused to entertain the idea of trading Peterson on Monday.

Wilks was asked how he will handle the situation.

"No. 1, I'm not going to indulge in speculation", he said. The report from La Canfora comes on the heels of a report he made earlier this month when he wrote that Cardinals would be open to the possibility of discussing a potential trade for Peterson. Patrick is a captain and he's well-respected around here and well-respected throughout the league. Yes, are we in a hard situation?

According to Schefter, Peterson "desperately" wants out of Arizona and a Cardinals team that is 1-6 and tied for third in the NFC West with the 49ers.

Arizona is now 1-6 after a 45-10 loss against the Denver Broncos which followed the firing of former offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.

The 28-year-old is owed $11 million in base salary for the 2019 season and $12.05 million for the 2020 campaign before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

The LSU product is a a seven-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro. The trade deadline is October 30. "He had a pretty good practice".
