RCB picked up Quinton de Kock for INR 2.8 crores ahead of IPL 2018.

South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has been traded to Mumbai Indians by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, thus making it the first transaction to take place before IPL 2019.

As per report in ESPNcricinfo, the auction is set to take place on December 16.

Keeping an eye on the business was cricket pundit Harsha Bhogle and he sent out a tweet asking Mumbai Indian fans of their opinion on the business. In order to offset the deal, they have released Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman (INR 2.2 crore, Dollars 343,000) and Sri Lankan offspinner Akila Dananjaya (INR 50 lakh, USD 78,000).

The South African keeper-batsman's overall IPL numbers - he has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad & Delhi Daredevils - paint a much better picture of his abilities. In eight matches that he played for RCB, de Kock scored 201 runs at a strike rate of 124.07, ending the season as the fourth highest run-getter for his team. The first one starts at the end of the season till a month before the auctions.

The Indian Premier League Governing Council (IPLGC) recently announced the final date for the IPL franchises to submit their list of released players following the IPL 2018 Player Retention policy. He becomes the third wicketkeeper after Ishan Kishan and Aditya Tare in MI squad. However, as per the reports in ESPN Cricinfo, the 2019 IPL players auction will be taking place in Goa this year.

The last date for IPL franchises to retain and release their players are November 15 and a purse of INR 3 crore will be available to the clubs in addition to the remaining balance after last year's auction.
