Roman Reigns Announces Leukemia Diagnosis, Vacates WWE Universal Title

BREAKING New Universal Champion to be Determined at WWE Crown Jewel 0By Mike Killam on Oct 22 2018WWE

WWE issued the following press release regarding Roman Reigns announcing on Raw that he is battling leukemia. "And unfortunately, it's back". And because the leukemia is back, I can not fulfill my that role. "Because I have faith".

"I've been living with leukemia for 11 years, and unfortunately it's back ..." "Because after I'm done whooping leukemia's ass once again I'm coming back home". I didn't have any money.

He explained that this led to a very hard period of his life, with a baby on the way and his football career over. And I had a baby on the way. And football was done with me. But you know who gave me a chance? He paid gratitude to WWE for taking a chance on him and allowing his dreams to come true.

Reigns ended the segment by saying that this was not a retirement speech and he plans on returning once he has beaten the disease.

The Big Dog, though, made it perfectly clear that this is not a a retirement speech as he is determined to beat this bad disease and come back stronger than ever.

Following Reigns' emotional announcement, he was embraced by his fellow WWE stars Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, before he walked back-stage. To eliminate any doubt as to the veracity of Reigns' condition, and whether it was simply a fictional move for the show rather than a real circumstance, WWE commentator Michael Cole made a statement once the show returned from commercial break. He opened WWE Monday Night RAW by announcing to the crowd that he's no longer able to defend his belt due to his battle with leukemia.
