Jack White Says He’s Disappointed About Homophobic Incident at Canada Show

Jack White at the White House

Concertgoer Allyson MacIvor says an usher told her she wasn't allowed to kiss her female companion last Friday, Nov. 2, at White's concert at Edmonton's Rogers Place, according to CBC News.

The musician continues, "The news that two women were stopped from kissing during my show in Edmonton really disappointed me". "She's like 'this is not allowed her here, this is inappropriate, if you have an issue you can talk to my manager'".

MacIvor says despite the one young employee's response, the manager and arena staff were very apologetic but it still brought tears to her eyes "realizing we still live in a world where I have to watch my back as a "gay" woman".

Still, she felt "violated and hurt", so she filled out an incident report, and made a decision to share her experience on Facebook. "This is one of my favorite photos because of how attractive the situation is; they are hiding in plain sight".

"Oilers Entertainment Group and Rogers Place are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all guests. We unequivocally welcome and support all members of the LGBTQ community". White also revealed that he encouraged everyone in the audience to kiss their loved ones during the Calgary performance of "Love Interruption". "I hope their love, no matter how it looks, is never interrupted".

Last night was a reminder, as I came home speechless, disturbed, and sad from the Jack White concert I was attending at Rogers Place.

She pulled MacIvor away from her seat, waving her finger disapprovingly, and told MacIvor "that's not allowed here".

"I was like, 'Excuse me, what do you mean?'" MacIvor added. MacIvor said she's open to the idea.

My good friend pulled me back just as shocked, to finish enjoying the last song, and the attractive moment, before my broken and shocked spirit blew a fuse.

Despite the Rogers Place manager "apologizing profusely" to MacIvor and her friend, the whole thing has still, understandably, left the pair shaken up. They were led to the office, where they received an apology.
