PUBG may be coming to PlayStation 4 soon

When it left Xbox One's Game Preview program back in September, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds arrived with all the bombast of a console-exclusive - there were console bundles, Xbox One Wireless Controllers and a new map.

While you can download the game for free now, but you'll only be able to play with full functionality from November 8-11, according to a post from Xbox on Wednesday.

Since at least October 17, images and Content-ID codes for the game have been on PlayStation's servers, suggesting that a release of the popular shooter is imminent.

That would be interesting timing for two reasons. Typically games are not assigned these codes until release is imminent.

In a post created back in August 2017 where people discussed the possibility of a PlayStation 4 release for PUBG, a user brought life back into the thread that laid dormant for months with a post comment that said PUBG had been spotted in their console's game database.

It's been so long since Microsoft hosted a proper fan event it's hard to say what they'll actually announce but the tweet below promises "big news" for PUBG, as well as The Forge expansion for Shadow Of The Tomb Raider and new State Of Decay 2 updates. Further to that, we know that PUBG Corp has been working with Sony as well. Where Fortnite retains a heavy focus on construction to achieve victory, PUBG forgoes crafting in favour of a more militaristic approach to battle.

It seems as though Xbox's stranglehold on PUBG is soon coming to an end. In between, PUBG Mobile was released on Android and iOS.
