Final Fantasy XV DLC cancelled

Final Fantasy XV DLC cancelled

Square Enix will host a nine-hour "Dissidia Final Fantasy 3rd Anniversary Broadcast & Official 1 Day Tournament 2018" on November 10 starting at 12:00 JST, the company announced. The game was set to get another set of character focussed "episodes" in 2019 but this will no longer be the case.

Final Fantasy XV's DLC production ends.

In a surprising and drastic move, Square Enix have made a decision to can the production of more DLC for Final Fantasy XV and write off the costs of its production, as they look to point Luminous Productions toward creating new AAA games. However, we found out just this week that the formation of this studio led to a huge financial loss for Square Enix, and the company was restructuring the subsidiary.

"A new company called Luminous Productions was formed, centered around the staff who had previously been developing the main game as part of BD2, and they have continued to work on the project since", he said during the stream. Ultimately, Tabata chose to resign. You can check out a new trailer for the game down below.

Final Fantasy XV producer Yuji Shinoda and Final Fantasy XV "Episode Ardyn" DLC director Takefumi Terada announced in a "special program" on Thursday that Square Enix is producing an anime short based on the "Episode Ardyn" DLC, titled "Final Fantasy XV Episode Ardyn - Prologue".

Final Fantasy XV released in 2016 with a season pass containing extra content, but season pass holders won't be missing out, as it appears everything that was promised has been released.

Tabata hasn't announced what he will be doing next but Luminous Productions will continue to exist under Square Enix. You will be able to watch it on YouTube and Niconico.

World of Final Fantasy Maxima is out now for Xbox One (priced $39.99/£34.99) and Nintendo Switch, as well as PlayStation 4 and PC.
