Fossil gets active with Sport smartwatch

Fossil has a new smartwatch powered by Wear OS, Fossil Sport, available this week starting at $255.

Fossil has launched a smartwatch with a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100, making it the first wearable to come to market with that new chip. The battery-saving mode also adds an additional two extra days of limited usage.

Unfortunately, Fossil is oddly cryptic about things like display size and resolution, although we do know you can choose from 41 and 43 mm cases, six colorways (gray, blush, red, light blue, neon, and black), and "endless" strap options in 18 and 22 mm sizes. The watch can track your heart rate and record runs and workouts with its altimeter, accelerometer, and gyroscope sensors and Global Positioning System functionality. Overall, it's a more preppy style than the just-reviewed Fossil Q Explorist HR and Fossil Q Venture HR. "The Fossil Sport smartwatch represents our best efforts yet, made possible through the combination of Qualcomm's world class Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform and Fossil's ingenious pulse of the evolving consumer needs".

While there's still a noticeable lack of smartphone manufacturers working with Wear OS, Fossil is still churning out Wear OS watches left and right.

The Fossil Sport will come priced at $255 and is available to buy now on Fossil's website, rolling out to Fossil retail stores on 12 November.

We'll be posting our in-depth review of the device over the coming weeks, so be sure to check back to see if the Sport lives up to the billing.
