Flight attendant breastfeeds stranger's baby on flight

Patrisha Organo 24 breastfeeding a strangers child during a flight

In her Facebook post, stewardess Patrisha Organo said she heard a faint cry of an infant as their Philippine Airlines (PAL) domestic flight took off early morning of November 6.

"When the mother told me that she had no formula milk for the child, and I knew that there was none on board, I knew I had to help", she explained.

"I knew that I could offer my own milk, as I had been breastfeeding my young child myself, so offered up my services".

Organo, who has a almost six-month-old daughter, said her line administrator led the passenger to the galley where she then breastfed the woman's baby until she fell asleep.

Organo, a new mother, switched gears from flight attendant into mum mode when she heard a crying baby mid-flight. According to the World Health Organisation, mothers should evaluate their individual circumstances when deciding if their baby should consume donated breast milk or another nutrition source, like formula.

Patrisha, a self-proclaimed breastfeeding advocate, said she was happy to help because she knew the mother's predicament.

'As soon as the baby started rooting and feeding from me, I saw the relief on the mother's eyes and eventually her daughter fell asleep'.

Organo received an outpouring of support for her act after sharing her story on Facebook and more than 22,000 people shared her post.

'I could only imagine the chaos of those feelings.

"I absolutely love this, I've often dreamed of being able to help out with my milk to another mother in need ❤ your a hero", one commented.

'The helplessness you feel when you can not feed your hungry child is awful, so I had to step in.

'As soon as I could help the baby and the mother I felt so happy - I cannot put into words how fulfilled I felt'. Presumably, the other passengers were delighted, too. But there are few spots where your crying baby feels like more of a spectacle than on an airplane. "I escorted her back to her seat and just before I left, the mother sincerely thanked me", the post continued.

Organo said her line administrator, Sheryl Villaflor, then assisted the mother to the plane's gallery where the stewardess breastfed the baby.

The baby's mum ran out of milk while on the plane.

And as a sweet end to her sweet gesture, Yahoo Lifestyle reported that Organo was promoted to Cabin Crew Evaluator on the flight.

In fact, the Human Milk Banking Association of North America collects and pasteurizes breast milk for mothers who can't breastfeed their own babies.
