Pacific Rim And Altered Carbon Anime Projects Coming From Netflix

Netflix Announces Pacific Rim Altered Carbon 3 More Anime Originals

The anime film has Dai Sato (Cowboy Bebop) and Tsukasa Kondo attached as writers. But the question is whether the new original anime series from Craig Kyle (Thor:Ragnarok) and Greg Johnson (X-Men: Evolution) can make the transition back to anime without seeming like a derivative story - there's a difference between seeing all those mecha anime tropes in a big bombastic blockbuster, and seeing it back in anime form, where dozens of other series follow the exact same narrative.

After a successful season of live-action television, Netflix sci-fi hit Altered Carbon is getting the anime treatment.

Pacific Rim: The original anime series follows two siblings - an idealistic teen boy and his naïve younger sister - who are "forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents". The series comes for Legendary Entertainment, with Legendary also producing both del Toro's original 2013 Pacific Rim and its 2018 sequel Pacific Rim: Uprising. Production of the anime will be dealt with by animation studio: Anima. The mysterious child is being hunted by dark forces that wish it dead, bringing his sword out of retirement the ronin has no choice but to fight once more. The series is by The Boondocks and Cannon Busters writer LeSean Thomas. Grammy nominee Flying Lotus will compose the music and be an executive producer on the show. Fans of the American tv show Atlanta will recognize the voice of Lakeith Stanfield who will be voicing protagonist Yasuke.

Lastly, animation studio MAPPA will be responsible for the animation.

Following the success of Attack on Titan and the mother of all triumphs of the year, Castlevania, Netflix are injecting a tonne of investment into developing more anime.

Netflix will have plenty of content to offer from or in-the-style-of Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and South Korea, and as a Filipino-American myself, it's cool to see a project called Trese in the mix, which centers on Filipino folklore and is based off a Filipino graphic novel. It is to be produced by Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson at BASE Entertainment, a studio based in Jakarta and Singapore.

If that's not enough of a plot to get you hooked, you'll be glad to know that Jay Oliva, who has worked on Wonder Woman and The Legend of Korra (the spin-off of Avatar: The Last Airbender), will be serving as the series' executive producer-which can only mean Alexandra will soon be your new favorite heroine.
