Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee dies aged 95

Born in 1922 in New York City, Lee was just 19 years old when prominent comic book artist Jack Kirby took notice of his talent.

He later gained notoriety with a whole new generation through his cameos in each blockbusting Marvel movie, as well as appearances on hit shows like The Big Bang Theory.

Lee also published several books, including The Superhero Women in 1977 and How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way the following year, when he was named publisher of the year by the Periodical and Book Association of America.

TMZ said Lee's daughter confirmed that Lee died at the hospital.

"My father loved all of his fans", J.C. Lee told TMZ.

During the 60s, Lee scripted most of Marvel's comics himself, including the Avengers and the X-Men.

Stan Lee began in the business in 1939 and was the co-creator behind the likes of Spider-Man, X-Men, Thor, Iron Man, Black Panther and The Fantastic Four - to name a few.

Lee helped Marvel Comics go mainstream in the 1960's by creating colorful heroes that could appeal to large audiences.

In addition, Lee contributed his voice to a bunch of animated series, including The Simpsons, Ultimate Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk.

Creator of Marvel Comics Stan Lee has died at the age of 95. according to a report from TMZ.

In 2017, Lee's wife of nearly 70 years, Joan, died at age 93.
