California police: Woman beat McDonald's manager over ketchup

The woman is described as being Hispanic and around 20 to 25 years old. She has brown hair

A McDonald's customer who was allegedly upset about her order is accused of assaulting an employee in Santa Ana.

Police in Santa Ana, California, say the assault took place around 11 p.m. on October 27 when the drive-thru customer entered the restaurant through an employee door and asked for the condiment.

When she was confronted by the store manager, the woman become combative and "pushed, punched, and choked" the victim, Santa Ana Police Cpl.

Santa Ana Police Department have issued an appeal for information on the woman's identity.

The woman "pushed, punched, and choked" the McDonald's employee, according to the police department in a November 13 news release.

Police said the woman is about 20 to 25 years old with brown hair.

Bertgana said if people do not recognise the suspect in the video, they may recognize the male who could lead police to her. "But ... we believe if you don't know her, but you might know him; our intent is to get her identified", police spokesman Anthony Bertagna told KTLA. She was seen wearing a light pink short-sleeved T-shirt and gray trousers at the time.

"There is no reason that any employee at any business should be assaulted by a patron, much less over not getting enough ketchup", said Bertagna.

He added: "She's the one that committed the crime".

McDonald's Owner/Operator Larry Kaplan, when asked for comment, said: "Our biggest priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants".
