Trump Says He Has Answered Written Mueller Questions But Hasn't Submitted

President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that he has answered questions in writing that were submitted by special counsel Robert Mueller's team, but he hasn't turned them over to Mueller's team yet. "I've answered them very easily", he told reporters on Friday. Trump's lawyers have not yet agreed to answer a larger set of questions that relate to Trump's time as president-elect and then as president, Giuliani said.

"I write the answers".

To that end, it has been negotiating for months with the White House over how, when and where Trump might address questions about his role in the matter.

The special counsel has been given the authority to look into "any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation".

The president continued to maintain his innocence while launching a fresh round of attacks on the probe, saying "there should have never been any Mueller investigation" while claiming it was a waste of millions of dollars.

Mueller already has brought charges against a series of former Trump aides.

Trump has called the probe a "witch hunt" and said there was no such collusion.

In the US, "collusion" is not a federal crime, although the Mueller probe has been looking into whether members of Trump's team, or the president himself, were involved in the obstruction of justice or conspiracy.

Mueller already has brought charges against a series of former Trump aides, including his former campaign chairman and a former United States national security adviser, as well as a number of Russian individuals and entities. The investigators don't care "how many lives they can ruin", he wrote.

While the special counsel was publicly quiet in the run-up to last week's midterm elections, his investigation has suddenly returned to the forefront of Washington conversation and cable news chyrons.

There should have never been an investigation, he argued, because there had been no wrongdoing by him or his campaign during the 2016 election.
