Fortnite Disables Glider Re-Deploy in Battle Royale

Fortnite's6.30 update brings the long-waited food truck war.

Players must build to protect their team mascot, with the first to destroy the other's mascot declared the victor.

The teams are separated by a barrier, which appears to last five minutes. A true culinary war. Categorized as Legendary Traps, they can only be placed on floors and manned by players from any team.

It should be noted that no explosive weapons are available in this mode, which also boasts special supply drops.

Along with the Food Fight Limited time mode, Epic also added a new solo event called Scavenger Pop-Up Cup.

The platform that players place the turret on is automatically rendered impenetrable and also has unlimited ammunition capability.

In other big changes to Battle Royale, player's pickaxe damage has been increased from 10 damage points to 20, quad crasher spawn rates have doubled, and players who have been knocked will now live for longer before being eliminated. That test is over, and as our sister site PC Gamer reports, the results weren't too hot: Epic is disabling glider redeployment in all default modes as part of today's update (v6.30).

This change will likely lead to some accidental damage or knock downs for players in the next few days since many were used to opening their gliders when things went wrong. Conversely, the glider re-deploy allowed players to escape sticky situations by flying away. I have faith that glider redeployment can work once items or abilities are introduced to make each leap a riskier proposition, but at the very least, I can fly around Disco Domination all I like, dreaming of a better world. It's a smaller scale than Fortnite's usual matches at just 12 players per team, but thanks to the small distances involved, the action is all the more intense. The mobile version of Fortnite also received several tweaks.
