Artists reacted to the death of the Creator of marvel comics

Tom King, who now writes for DC's Batman (and previously worked for the CIA), weighed in, specifically highlighting how Lee used comic books to address issues in society.

Because Marvel Comics patriarch Stan Lee didn't want a large public funeral, his family held a private ceremony, POW!

He co-created the Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, and numerous other heroes in the Marvel comic and cinematic universes.

Fans around the world have already shared a tribute to art in honour of this legendary man, and even Hollywood celebrities such as Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., expressed his condolences. Most commentators were in a fury over what they interpreted as Maher's disrespect for a 95-years old creator and comic book legend.

In a post entitled "Adulting", he wrote, "The guy who created Spider-Man and the Hulk has died, and America is in mourning". He added, "Now, I have nothing against comic books - I read them now and then when I was a kid and I was all out of Hardy Boys".

This week, comic book legend and pop culture icon Stan Lee died and while his fans, colleagues, and members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe mourned his death, Bill Maher addressed his death from another angle.

In the blog post, titled Adulting, Maher takes aim at nerd culture.

Without detailing how Lee's contribution has caused America to "get stupider", Maher stated: "I don't think it's a huge stretch to suggest that Donald Trump could only get elected in a country that thinks comic books are important". Pinning all of that on Stan Lee the day after his funeral is just kind of a dick move, though, and Maher probably could have waited a week or two to explore this point.

Basically, the thesis here is that "adults decided they didn't have to give up kid stuff" and complain about having "to do grown-up things like buy auto insurance".

Maher, forever a firestarter, probably wrote what he wrote to provoke a response.

"There will never be another Stan Lee", he wrote on Twitter.

However, fans will still have the chance to pay tribute to the brains behind The Avengers, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the X-Men, as a representative from POW!
