Why local Conservative MPs are still backing Theresa May despite Brexit resignations

Theresa May's leadership is running out of road as ministers quit over her Brexit plan

She said that a change of leadership at this point isn't going to make the Brexit negotiations any easier.

British Prime Minister Theresa May told rebellious politicians in her Conservative Party on Sunday that ousting her would not help the progress of the Brexit negotiations.

But Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has called on May to withdraw her "half-baked Brexit deal", saying the proposal did not meet his party's six tests and was not "in the interests of the whole country".

Pressed on whether the 48-letter limit had been reached, Mrs May said: "As far as I know, no".

Also on Sunday, the Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon told the BBC her party would vote against the Brexit deal.

Beleaguered British Prime Minister Theresa May, who is facing a potential no-confidence vote from opponents in her Conservative Party, said Sunday that a leadership change won't make the faltering Brexit talks any easier.

May stressed that negotiations will continue over the content of the political declaration document on the future economic relationship between Britain and the EU. Forty-eight are needed to trigger a vote of no confidence.

After making what they regard as an offer that respects Britain's desire to leave but preserves the integrity of the Union, EU officials are surprised by the furious debate.

To succeed, she must find support among parliamentarians belonging to the main opposition Labour Party and other political groupings who may yet be persuaded to vote in favour of the deal in a bid to avoid the United Kingdom leaving the European Union with no deal at all, a so-called "cliff-edge" Brexit. "I am not going to be distracted from the important job".

But at 52 it appears he is ready to return with source close to Mr Cameron said he would not rule out going back to Westminster if a future Tory leader asked him.

More than 20 lawmakers have said publicly that they have submitted a letter, but others are expected to have done so confidentially.

May said the week ahead would be "critical" in the Brexit talks.

Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage says that although she hasn't seen the full deal yet, she will also be backing Theresa May in the coming months.

"I have worked very closely with her on Brexit and I think there is still the opportunity to get this right, support the Prime Minister - but she must also listen and change course on Brexit".

Britain and the European Union agreed on a draft deal signaling the beginning of the final phase of Brexit negotiations.

Ms Bradley will tell the meeting the agreement is good for the people and businesses of Northern Ireland; it prevents a hard border, upholds the Good Friday Agreement, and maintains the constitutional and economic integrity of the UK.

"I have heard it said that this is like a football match, in which we are one-nil down at half-time, but. we can still pull it back and get the Brexit we want", Johnson wrote in his weekly column for Monday's Daily Telegraph.

She said of her week: "It's been a pretty heavy couple of days", admitting to the Mail that when she went up to her Downing Street living area late on Wednesday the first thing her husband Philip did was to pour her a whisky.
