Pokemon GO trainer battles confirmed to arrive in December

Earlier today, Pokemon Go released full details about its upcoming Trainer Battle feature, a new addition to the game that will let players battle others in 3 v 3 Pokemon battles. It's possible there's still more to it, but we think we've got the gist. This will keep players from encountering trainers that are outside of their level brackets; therefore keeping battles fair and fun for all involved.

Who Can Participate The Trainer Battles?

The simplest is by sharing/scanning a QR code called a "Battle Code" with another trainer physically nearby.

Players generally need to be close to each other to fight, but if trainers are either Ultra or Best Friends they can battle from any location. That doesn't mean you can't fight people remotely, though.

Pokemon GO trainer battles confirmed to arrive in December

One of the best things about the new Trainer Battle system is that there's no reason not to do it.

As in Gym and Raid Battles, Trainer Battles require you to quickly tap your screen to use your Pokemon's Fast Attack. It isn't clear if you can change or tweak your party before the fight itself. However, to ensure an even match, participants must compete in the same Trainer Battle League, which determines the maximum CP of a Pokemon that players can use. According to Niantic, the battles are "fast-paced and real-time", so you can say goodbye to the turn-based battle system that's usually implemented in this type of games. There's also a new shared meter for a second charge attack, unlocked by paying a one-time cost in stardust and candy.

There are no level limitations in order to start a battle. While there's no limit to the number of battles per day, you're limited to three rewards per day when battling real people and one reward per day from the NPC battles. Those Trainer Battle rewards can include Sinnoh Stones, too. Players have long dreamed of events where they could battle Team Rocket grunts and leaders, and it looks like Pokemon Go is at least considering adding additional AI options that could make that a reality. We also went hands-on with a demo version of these battles, which now don't have a firm release date-though they are set to arrive in Pokemon Go soon.
