IOS 12.1.1 is now available, fixes an annoying FaceTime feature

Apple giveth and Apple taketh away. Well, to make sure you aren't left in the dark, here are the iOS 12.1.1 release notes, changelog, and security content details straight from Apple.

Apple on Wednesday released iOS 12.1.1 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users.

You never know what you're missing until it's gone, they say. It probably wouldn't have been that bad if the said menu didn't cover up the screen at the same time.

Instead of switching the camera view with a single tap (like on iOS 11), iOS 12 forced you to open the hidden menu (which blocks out the screen) then find the camera switch icon and close the menu to see if it worked. Live Photo capture has also been added in one-to-one FaceTime calls. While iOS 11 was plagued with any number of performance issues, Apple with iOS 12 chose to focus on system stability and reliability, a decision which has paid off swimmingly. At least for those in certain countries. The update was around 377MB on our iPhone XR but the exact size will vary with device.

Apart from the Haptic Touch, the iOS 12.1.1 also brings improvements for FaceTime interface, previously Apple had made some unnecessary UI changes to FaceTime with iOS 12 release, for instance, switching between the front and rear cameras has become confusing to the users. The new rollout includes improvements, and much awaited Haptic Touch for iPhone XR users since Apple had ditched the 3D feature, for cost-cutting and making it the cheaper entry-level iPhone of this year.
