Potentially unsafe infant ibuprofen sold at Walmart, CVS and Family Dollar

The product is used as a pain reliever/fever reducer and was packaged in 0.5 oz. bottles for the recalled lots listed HERE.

The release added there is a slight possibility that a higher potency could cause infants to develop permanent renal or kidney injuries.

The New Jersey-based pharmaceutical company said its product labeled "Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension, USP (NSAID) 50 mg per 1.25 mL" might have a higher concentration of ibuprofen than advertised. Other possible adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea, as well as tinnitus, headache and stomach bleeding.

They were sold at Family Dollar, Walmart and CVS.

The recalled lots from Walmart are 00717009A, 00717015, and 00717024A.

It's sold under the "Family Wellness" label with the NCD 55319-250-23 and lot number 00717024A by Family Dollar.

"Tris Pharma Inc. has notified its customer by urgent recall notice and is arranging for the return of the recalled product", the company statement said.

If you have experienced any problems from using the medication, contact your doctor or healthcare provider.

"This recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration".
